Online casinos and betting in Senegal

Sports betting is legal in Senegal through LONASE, the state lottery, which holds the monopoly on lotteries and betting, including online. Land-based casinos are licensed, but online casinos have no dedicated framework. Offshore brands led by 1Win accept Senegalese players without LONASE authorisation.

Local operators: LONASE (state).

Senegal keeps betting in state hands. LONASE, the Loterie Nationale Sénégalaise, holds the monopoly on lotteries and sports betting, and that includes online betting. If you want to bet on football inside the law, LONASE is the route.

Land-based casinos are licensed, mostly in Dakar and the coastal resorts. Online casinos, though, have no dedicated framework, so their status is unclear: no casino website holds a Senegalese licence of its own. The minimum age for legal betting is 18.

This is the position as our research found it in November 2026. It is general information, not legal advice; check with a Senegalese lawyer if you need certainty.

LONASE or an offshore brand?

LONASE gives you local oversight, CFA-franc betting and an operator you can complain to at home. What it doesn’t offer is an international-style casino lobby or the huge market lists of the global books.

That’s where international brands come in. The ranked list above shows the ones that accept Senegalese players, according to their restricted-country lists, with 1Win first:

  • 1Win, licensed in Curaçao, with a big casino, live dealers, crash games and a sportsbook;
  • The 1xBet family: 1xBet, 22Bet, Melbet, Betwinner, Megapari and PariPesa, which has local sites or partners in Senegal;
  • Mostbet, with a visible presence in Senegal;
  • Crypto brands: BC.Game, Cloudbet and Rollbit.

None of these operates under LONASE’s monopoly. Being accepted by the site is not the same as being authorised in Senegal, and it changes what happens when something goes wrong.

Wave, Orange Money and Mixx by Yas

Senegal is where Wave made its name, and its low fees changed how the country moves money. Our data lists the methods Senegalese players use:

The West African CFA franc (XOF, shown as CFA) is pegged to the euro, which keeps conversion predictable. Even so, an offshore account held in euros, dollars or crypto costs a small spread on every deposit and withdrawal.

Not every site that accepts a Wave deposit will pay back to Wave. Read the withdrawal page before you deposit, note the minimum payout and any fees, and complete ID verification early so a winning balance isn’t stuck.

Betting on your phone

Almost all betting in Senegal happens on mobile, and it’s where most problems start. A few points worth knowing:

  • Apps from outside the app stores. Offshore brands usually offer their Android app as a download from their own site. That’s normal, but it means a fake site can hand you a fake app. Only download from an address you’ve typed yourself.
  • The mobile site is enough. For most players, the browser version does everything the app does, without installing anything.
  • Lock it down. Use a unique password, switch on two-factor login if the site offers it, and keep your Wave or Orange Money PIN to yourself. Anyone who has your phone and your PIN has your balance.
  • Data and connections. Live bets and crash rounds settle whether or not your connection holds. On a weak signal, keep stakes small or wait until you’re on Wi-Fi.

If you share a phone with family, log out after each session. It’s also the simplest way to keep children away from betting apps, which is a real concern given how many young people in the region use them.

Checks before signing up offshore

  1. Licence. The offshore brands are licensed in Curaçao, or Anjouan for BC.Game. Those regulators have complaint processes, but they’re distant and slow. Our offshore licence guide explains the difference.
  2. Restricted lists. Brands update their country lists. If Senegal is added while you hold a balance, withdraw promptly.
  3. Clones. French-language copies of popular brands circulate on WhatsApp and Telegram. Use the real address and avoid app files sent by strangers.
  4. Bonuses. Offers here show only percentages and spins, because amounts in our data are set for South Africa and don’t apply in Senegal. 1Win’s welcome package is a 500% match over your first deposits in the version we track, with CFA amounts and terms set in its cashier. Our guide to bonus terms covers the clauses that matter.

Football, laamb and basketball

Football leads. The Lions de la Teranga won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2022, and Senegalese players are stars across Europe’s top leagues, which is why French Ligue 1, the Premier League, the Champions League and La Liga dominate betting slips. The domestic Ligue 1 of Senegal has a smaller betting market and fewer options at international books.

Wrestling (laamb) is the sport that’s uniquely Senegalese. Big fights fill stadiums and dominate conversation for weeks. International sportsbooks rarely price them, so if you want to bet on laamb, LONASE is where local events are most likely to appear.

Basketball completes the top three. Senegal has a strong basketball tradition, and NBA and international markets are widely available.

Habits that cost punters money

  • Long combined slips. Every leg adds the bookmaker’s margin. Our accumulator guide shows how quickly the true odds fall.
  • Chasing losses after a bad weekend. Set a weekly budget and stick to it; our bankroll guide has a simple method.
  • Paid “sure” tips. Nobody sells guaranteed results. If they had them, they wouldn’t sell them.
  • Crash games without limits. Games like Aviator are fast and repetitive. Decide your stop point before you start.

Responsible gambling

We could not confirm a national gambling helpline in Senegal, so use the tools on whatever site you choose:

  • deposit limits for a day, week or month;
  • time-outs and self-exclusion;
  • removing saved payment details so each deposit takes a deliberate step.

Gamblers Anonymous runs online meetings that anyone can join, and a doctor can refer you to confidential support. Gambling is entertainment, never a way to earn money. Our responsible gambling tools guide shows where to find the settings.

Neighbours

Gambia, surrounded by Senegal, has no clear licensing body. Guinea-Bissau has no specific online gambling law, Cape Verde regulates land-based gaming only, Mali runs betting through PMU-Mali, and Mauritania prohibits gambling. Further along the coast, Côte d’Ivoire has a LONACI model much like Senegal’s.

Frequently asked questions

Is online betting legal in Senegal?

Yes, through LONASE (Loterie Nationale Sénégalaise), which holds the state monopoly on lotteries and sports betting, online included. This is general information, not legal advice.

Are online casinos legal in Senegal?

Unclear. Senegal licenses land-based casinos, but there is no dedicated framework for online casinos.

Can I use 1Win in Senegal?

1Win accepts players from Senegal, which is not on its restricted list. It holds a Curaçao licence and is not part of LONASE, so a Senegalese body can't help you in a dispute.

Which payment methods work for betting in Senegal?

Wave, Orange Money and Mixx by Yas (formerly Free Money) are the main mobile wallets, alongside Visa, Mastercard and USDT. Check that the site pays out to the same wallet.

Can you bet on laamb wrestling?

Senegalese wrestling is hugely popular, but betting markets on it are rare at international sites. LONASE is the place to look for local events.

What is the betting age in Senegal?

18 is the minimum age recorded in our data for legal betting in Senegal.
