Casino & Betting Glossary
Every casino and betting term used on this site, explained in plain English: wagering, RTP, volatility, free spins, free bets, rakeback, cashback, accumulators, cash-out, FICA and more. Each term links to the pages and tools where it matters.
How to use the glossary
Bonus terms are full of jargon, and the jargon is often where the catch is. “Wagering on bonus plus deposit”, “max bet while wagering” and “maximum cashout” can each halve what an offer is worth. The glossary explains each term in a few sentences, with a rand example where it helps.
Start with the terms that matter most before you claim a bonus:
- Wagering requirement: how many times you must bet a bonus before withdrawing. Try the wagering calculator.
- RTP (return to player): the share of all bets a game pays back over the long run.
- Free bet: a stake from the bookmaker; usually only the winnings are paid, not the stake. See free bets.
- FICA: the identity and address checks South African operators must complete before your first withdrawal.
If a term on a review or bonus page isn’t clear, look it up here before you deposit. For the bigger picture, see our guides.
