Double chance
Double chance is a soccer bet that covers two of the three possible results in one bet: home or draw (1X), away or draw (X2), or home or away (12). It is easier to win than a straight result bet, so the odds are lower.

The three double chance options
| Bet | Wins if | Loses if |
|---|---|---|
| 1X | Home wins or draw | Away wins |
| X2 | Away wins or draw | Home wins |
| 12 | Either team wins | Draw |
Example
Kaizer Chiefs are at home and priced 2.10 to win, with the draw at 3.10. Double chance 1X might be around 1.28. A R100 bet returns R128 if Chiefs win or draw, and loses only if the visitors win.
When it’s useful
Double chance helps when you expect a team not to lose but you aren’t confident they’ll win, for example an underdog playing at home. It’s common in accumulators, but stacking many low-priced double chance legs is a classic trap: ten legs at 1.25 still lose often, because each one can go wrong.

Draw no bet refunds a draw instead of paying it. A +0.5 handicap on a team is the same as double chance on that team. Check prices in decimal odds and compare bookmakers on our PSL betting list.
Frequently asked questions
What does 1X mean in betting?
1X is a double chance bet on the home team to win or draw. It loses only if the away team wins.
What does 12 mean in double chance?
It means either team to win, so the bet loses only if the match ends in a draw.
Is double chance a good bet?
It lowers risk but also lowers the payout, often to between 1.10 and 1.60. It is useful in accumulators, but very short odds add little to a slip while still adding a leg that can lose.
