Roobet casino review
Roobet is a Curaçao-licensed crypto casino that pays in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and USDT, not Rands, and its South African availability is unclear. New players get 20% cashback on first-week losses plus a $5 free bet, and the lobby holds about 6,500 games including its own Crash and Mines.

Who Roobet suits
Roobet is a crypto casino first and last. If you already hold Bitcoin or USDT on an exchange such as Luno or VALR, know how network fees work and want fast, provably fair originals like Crash and Mines, it is built for you. Its lobby is huge, its in-house games are some of the best known in crypto gambling, and payouts move at blockchain speed.
It suits most South African players poorly. There is no Rand wallet, no Ozow, no Capitec Pay and no voucher deposits. Every deposit means buying crypto first, and every win means selling it again, with the exchange rate moving in between. On top of that, its status for South Africa is genuinely unclear, which we explain below.
If you want a crypto-friendly casino that also takes Rands and local payment methods, 1Win is the obvious comparison: it accepts both. If you want a site with a South African licence, look at our SA-licensed casinos instead.
Is Roobet available in South Africa?
We can’t give you a clean yes. Here is what the sources say:
- Several 2026 review sites list South Africa as a permitted country once you complete Roobet’s identity checks.
- At least one other 2026 country list places South Africa among restricted countries.
- Roobet’s own affiliate programme names South Africa as a target market, which suggests it wants South African traffic.
Restricted-country lists change, and the only one that counts is the list in Roobet’s current terms of service. Read it before you deposit. If South Africa is on it, don’t sign up, and don’t use a VPN: offshore casinos routinely void winnings and close accounts when they find a player was in a blocked country.
There is also the South African law to keep in mind. Online casino games are only licensed through the provincial boards, and Roobet holds no provincial licence. Players are rarely pursued, but it does mean the protections of a local licence don’t apply to you.
The welcome offer in plain numbers
Roobet doesn’t run a classic deposit match. Its new-player offer is cashback:
You get 20% of your net losses back over your first seven days, plus the small dollar free bet shown on the card. Because Roobet works in dollars, the Rand value of everything moves with the exchange rate. At roughly R18 to the dollar, a $5 free bet is worth about R90, which is a taste rather than a bankroll.
Here is what the cashback means in practice:
- If you deposit the equivalent of R2,000 and lose it all in week one, 20% back is about R400 in crypto.
- If you finish the week ahead, there is no cashback, because there were no net losses.
- It is your own money returning. Cashback softens a losing week; it doesn’t make gambling profitable.
The terms that matter, such as whether the cashback carries wagering and when it is paid, are set on Roobet’s promotions page, and they aren’t published in our data. Read them before relying on the refund.
The weekly raffle
Roobet also runs a weekly raffle with a six-figure dollar prize pool, with tickets earned by wagering. It is free to enter, but the tickets come from play, so the more you bet, the more tickets you get. Treat it as a small extra, not a reason to wager more.
For how cashback compares with match bonuses and free spins, see our cashback bonus guide.
Games and studios
Roobet’s lobby holds about 6500 games, which puts it among the largest casinos we list. The library mixes three things.
Roobet originals
The in-house games are the reason many players join:
- Crash: a multiplier climbs until it busts; you cash out before it does. It is close to Aviator in feel, but runs on Roobet’s own provably fair engine.
- Mines: pick tiles on a grid and avoid the hidden mines; each safe pick raises the multiplier. Our Mines page explains the maths.
- Towers: climb a tower floor by floor, choosing a safe tile each time.
- Dice: set your own win chance and multiplier, then roll.
Provably fair means each result can be checked against a seed the casino commits to in advance. Our provably fair verifier shows how that works.
Slots and live casino
Beyond the originals there are thousands of slots from international studios and a full live casino with roulette, blackjack, baccarat and game shows. Our data doesn’t list Roobet’s studios one by one, but crypto casinos of this size normally carry the big names, including Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming and Nolimit City.
What you won’t find are the South African favourites in a local setting: there’s no Spina Zonke-style Rand lobby, no Lucky Numbers and no Habanero promotions tied to PSL weekends.
Deposits, withdrawals and verification
Banking at Roobet is crypto only:
- Deposits: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Tether (USDT) and other coins.
- Withdrawals: the same coins. Payouts are reported to take about About 10 minutes (crypto) once approved.
- Minimums: not published in our data; they depend on the coin.
For a South African, the real cost sits outside the casino:
- You buy crypto on an exchange with Rands, paying a spread or trading fee.
- You send it to Roobet and pay a network fee.
- You withdraw winnings, pay another network fee, and sell back to Rands on the exchange.
USDT (a dollar-pegged stablecoin) avoids the price swings of Bitcoin while the money sits at the casino, but it still leaves you exposed to the Rand-dollar rate.
KYC instead of FICA
Roobet doesn’t use South African FICA. It runs its own know-your-customer (KYC) checks, and reviews say South African players must complete them to play. Expect to upload an ID or passport and possibly proof of address, especially before a large withdrawal. Complete the checks early, so a win isn’t held up while you find documents.
What a typical South African deposit looks like
To make the steps concrete, say you want to play with R1,000. You buy R1,000 of USDT on a local exchange, paying perhaps R5 to R15 in fees depending on the platform. You withdraw it to your Roobet deposit address on a cheap network, which might cost another few Rand. Roobet credits roughly $55 to your balance.
If you finish the session at $80, you withdraw, pay a network fee, and sell the USDT back to Rands. If the Rand strengthened against the dollar in the meantime, your Rand result is a little lower than the dollar result suggests; if it weakened, a little higher. None of this happens at a Rand casino, where R1,000 stays R1,000.
Keep records of every exchange transaction. SARS treats crypto gains as taxable, and gambling winnings that pass through an exchange can be hard to explain later without a paper trail.
Mobile play
Our data doesn’t record a native Roobet app for Android or iPhone. The casino runs in your phone’s browser, and the originals are light, fast games that work well on a small screen. Crash and Mines in particular were designed with mobile players in mind.
A practical tip: keep your exchange app and the casino on the same phone, but turn on two-factor authentication for both. Crypto accounts are a common target for SIM-swap fraud, and a stolen balance can’t be recovered.
If you want an installable app with Rand banking, see our mobile casinos list.
Support and safety
- Licence: Curaçao, held by Raw Entertainment B.V. Roobet has been running since 2019.
- SA licence: none. There is no provincial board, so no South African dispute route if something goes wrong. Your options are Roobet’s own support and, in theory, the Curaçao regulator.
- Support: our data doesn’t list Roobet’s support channels. Crypto casinos of this size usually offer 24/7 live chat and email; check the help centre before you deposit.
- Crypto risk: blockchain payments can’t be reversed. Send to the wrong address or the wrong network and the money is gone.
Roobet offers account tools such as deposit limits and self-exclusion through support. If gambling stops being fun, use them, and call the South African Responsible Gambling helpline on 0800 006 008. Our responsible gambling page has more.
Verdict
Roobet is a polished, well-known crypto casino with excellent originals and quick blockchain payouts. For an experienced crypto user in a permitted country, it does what it promises.
For most South Africans, it is a hard sell. There are no Rands, no local payment methods and no SA licence, and its availability here is disputed. The welcome cashback is modest and paid in dollars. If you are curious about crypto play, a casino that takes both Rands and crypto, such as 1Win, or one of the brands in our crypto casinos list, is the easier first step.

Frequently asked questions
Is Roobet available in South Africa?
It isn't clear. Some 2026 review sites list South Africa as allowed once you pass KYC, while another list puts it among restricted countries. Check Roobet's current terms of service before you sign up, and never use a VPN to get round a country block.
Does Roobet accept Rands?
No. Roobet works in US dollars and crypto. You deposit and withdraw Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USDT or other coins, so you need a crypto exchange account to move money to and from your bank.
Is Roobet legit?
Roobet has operated since 2019 under a Curaçao licence held by Raw Entertainment B.V. That makes it a real, established offshore casino, but it is not licensed by any South African provincial board, so you would have no local regulator to complain to.
What is the Roobet welcome bonus?
New players get 20% of their losses back over the first seven days, plus a $5 free bet. It is cashback, not a deposit match, so it only pays out if you lose.
How fast are Roobet withdrawals?
Crypto withdrawals are reported to take about 10 minutes once approved. Getting the money into Rands then depends on your exchange, which can add a day or more.
