Who Hacksaw Gaming is
Hacksaw Gaming started in 2018 with scratch cards and instant games, then moved into slots and quickly became one of the most talked-about studios online. It is based in Malta, holds Malta Gaming Authority and UK Gambling Commission licences, and releases a new game most weeks. Streamers helped make it famous: its slots are built for big, dramatic moments that look good on camera.
What its games are known for
- Very high volatility. Hacksaw’s slots are designed around rare, very large wins. Long dry spells are part of the deal, so stake small and expect variance.
- Big headline maximums. Top wins of 10,000x or more are common. Wanted Dead or a Wild lists 12500x.
- Several bonus modes. Many games offer two or three different bonus rounds, each with its own risk, plus bonus buys where the casino allows them.
- Several RTP versions. Hacksaw supplies its games at different RTPs, and casinos choose which version to run. Always check the game’s info screen.
Best Hacksaw games
- Wanted Dead or a Wild: the Wild West slot that made Hacksaw a household name for slot fans. Three bonus features, sticky wilds and an RTP of 94.55% in our data, which is low. It is a pure high-risk game.
- Le Bandit: a cartoon raccoon heist slot with cascades and golden squares. Its RTP is 96.34% and it plays more gently than most Hacksaw titles, though wins still swing.
Both demos run free on their pages, straight from Hacksaw’s own demo server.
Where South Africans can play Hacksaw slots
Hacksaw is a staple at offshore and crypto casinos, and some South African licensed sites add it through aggregators. Check the lobby rather than assuming. 1Win is open to South Africans with a very large slot library and offers 500% up to R75,000 over 4 deposits; it is licensed in Curaçao, not by a provincial board.
A word on bonuses: high-volatility slots and wagering requirements are a tough mix. You need a lot of spins to clear wagering, and a Hacksaw slot can drain a balance before you get there. Many casinos also exclude bonus buys while a bonus is active. If you want to clear a bonus, a steadier slot from Pragmatic Play or Habanero is usually more sensible.
Hacksaw’s scratch cards
Before its slots took off, Hacksaw made online scratch cards, and it still offers them. They’re instant, low-stakes games with an RTP shown in the info screen, a simple alternative if you want a quick game without slot volatility.

Frequently asked questions
Are Hacksaw Gaming slots high volatility?
Most of them are. Hacksaw builds slots around rare, very large wins, often 10,000x or more, which means long losing runs are normal. Le Bandit is one of its gentler titles.
Can I play Hacksaw Gaming slots in South Africa?
Yes, at casinos that carry Hacksaw, which are mostly offshore brands and a few local sites through aggregators. Check the lobby before you deposit.
Do Hacksaw slots have bonus buys?
Many do, at casinos that allow them. A bonus buy costs a large multiple of your stake, often 100x or more, so it burns through a balance quickly.
