SuperSportBet review

SuperSportBet has one of the fairest sports welcome bonuses in South Africa: a 100% match up to R5,000 with a 3x rollover at odds of 2.0. It launched in 2024, holds Western Cape and Mpumalanga licences, and pairs cash-out and a bet builder with a zero-rated app on Android and iOS.

SuperSportBet in short

SuperSportBet is one of the newest bookmakers in our top ten. It launched in January 2024 and carries the name of South Africa’s best-known sports broadcaster. Being new hasn’t meant cutting corners on licensing: it holds two provincial licences.

  • Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board: 10191097
  • Mpumalanga Economic Regulator: 9-2-1-09551

What makes it worth a look is a welcome bonus with genuinely light terms, plus the betting tools that newer platforms tend to do well:

  • cash-out, including partial cash-out
  • a bet builder
  • a clean, zero-rated app

It’s a good first account for a PSL or rugby punter, and a sensible second one for anyone whose main bookmaker has a heavy rollover.

SuperSportBet matches your first deposit 100%, up to R5,000. The minimum deposit is R25, and the bonus is credited automatically.

The terms are what make this offer stand out:

  • Rollover: 3x the bonus amount only, not the deposit plus the bonus
  • Minimum odds: 2.0 per qualifying bet
  • Time limit: 14 days

What that means in Rands: a R1,000 deposit gets a R1,000 bonus, which needs R3,000 of bets at 2.0 or higher within two weeks. A punter who bets R250 a weekend clears it inside the window without changing anything. Compare that with a match that requires 5x deposit plus bonus. On the same R1,000 deposit, that would mean R10,000 of betting.

The 2.0 minimum odds is the one condition to plan around. It rules out most short-priced favourites, so you’ll be betting on evens or bigger: draws, underdogs, or two-leg doubles of shorter prices. Use the odds converter if you think in fractional odds: 2.0 is evens (1/1).

Bonus spins and a bonus bet on your first deposit

The first deposit also triggers a separate reward of 100 bonus spins and a bonus bet. The bonus bet is scaled to what you deposit:

First deposit Bonus bet
R25 R10
R50 R20
R100 R50

The bonus bet needs odds of 3.0 or more. The spins have no wagering on winnings, and winnings are capped at R5,000. Even the R25 minimum deposit unlocks something, which is rare.

Markets

SuperSportBet covers the sports South Africans follow most:

  • Football: the Betway Premiership (PSL), Nedbank Cup, Carling Knockout, Bafana Bafana, AFCON, the EPL, Champions League and La Liga
  • Rugby: Springbok tests, the URC and the Currie Cup, which suits a brand linked to rugby broadcasting
  • Cricket: the Proteas, SA20 and IPL
  • Other sports: tennis, golf, boxing and MMA
  • Horse racing: South African racing, with Greyville and Durban July markets advertised in the app listing, plus virtual racing

Our data has no esports book or Lucky Numbers, so if you play UK 49s or Powerball draws you’ll need another account. Hollywoodbets, Supabets and YesPlay all offer them.

The bet builder

A bet builder lets you combine several markets from the same match into one bet. For example: Orlando Pirates to win, over 2.5 goals and both teams to score in the same fixture. The odds are calculated together, taking account of how the outcomes relate, rather than simply multiplied.

Bet builders are popular because they let you back a specific “story” for a match. They also carry higher margins than single markets, so keep stakes small. Our bet calculator helps you see what a multi actually pays.

Live betting, cash-out and streaming

SuperSportBet’s in-play section covers football, rugby, cricket and tennis with live odds and match trackers. Cash-out is available on many bets before the event ends, according to published reviews, and partial cash-out lets you take some of the money while leaving the rest of the bet running.

Live streaming is the uncertain part. Goal says some events can be streamed, Afrik-Foot lists “no live streaming”, and the app-store listing doesn’t mention it. Don’t sign up expecting to watch matches inside the app. If streaming matters, Betway and World Sports Betting are surer bets.

The SuperSportBet app

SuperSportBet has apps on Android and iOS (the iOS app is on the South African App Store). According to Toffeeweb, there is also a zero-rated version of the site and app. You can browse and bet without using mobile data, though any streaming still uses data.

The app is quick and uncluttered, which is the advantage of a platform built in 2024. Bet builder, cash-out and the cashier are all in the app. See how it ranks in our betting apps list.

Payments and withdrawals

SuperSportBet’s cashier is one of the widest in this list:

The minimum deposit is R25, low enough to try the site properly. A standard withdrawal time isn’t published. Payouts go to your verified bank account after FICA, so upload your documents when you join.

Licence and safety

Two provincial licences put SuperSportBet in the same trust bracket as Betway and World Sports Betting. That means:

  • you have a regulator to take a complaint to
  • your funds and identity are handled under South African rules
  • responsible gambling tools such as deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion are a licence condition

The only thing it lacks is a long track record, since it has been trading for less than three years. Support channels aren’t listed in our data, so check the help section of the app for current options.

How to join

  1. Register in the app or on the site with your SA ID number and mobile number.
  2. Complete FICA (ID and proof of address).
  3. Deposit between R25 and R5,000 within 14 days of registering. The 100% match is credited automatically, along with the spins and bonus bet.
  4. Wager the bonus 3x at odds of 2.0 or more within 14 days.

Using the bonus well: bets at 2.0 or more

Every bet towards the 3x rollover needs odds of at least 2.0, so it helps to know where those prices come from on a normal weekend:

  • The draw in PSL matches. Draws are common in the Betway Premiership and are usually priced around 2.8 to 3.4.
  • Away sides and closely matched games. In an evenly matched fixture, both teams are often priced above 2.0.
  • Doubles of short favourites. Two selections at 1.45 combine to about 2.10. Check whether multis count, because the welcome terms specify odds per bet.
  • Totals and handicaps. “Over 2.5 goals” in a cagey match, or a +1 handicap on an outsider, often sits around 2.0.
  • Rugby and cricket. Winning-margin bands in Springbok tests, and top-batter markets in the SA20, are usually priced well above 2.0.

Higher odds mean a lower chance of winning each bet, so expect losing runs while you clear the rollover. With R3,000 to bet on a R1,000 bonus, you don’t need to chase big prices. Steady 2.0 to 2.5 selections are the sensible route.

For a first account that’s fair on bonus terms and modern in its features, SuperSportBet is the pick of the three. If you want streaming, Betway is stronger; for racing, World Sports Betting.

Who SuperSportBet suits

SuperSportBet suits the punter who follows the PSL, the Springboks and the Proteas, bets every weekend in moderate amounts, and wants a bonus they can realistically clear.

It suits you less if:

  • Lucky Numbers or esports are part of your routine
  • you need a long track record before you trust a bookmaker
  • you want to stream matches inside the app

A sensible set-up is SuperSportBet for the welcome bonus and weekly football, with a racing or Lucky Numbers account elsewhere.

Verdict

SuperSportBet doesn’t have the biggest headline bonus, but it may have the fairest one: 3x on the bonus only, a R25 minimum deposit and two weeks to clear it. Add cash-out, a bet builder, two provincial licences, a zero-rated app on both stores and a wide cashier, and it’s one of the easiest bookmakers in South Africa to recommend to a new punter.

It’s less complete for specialists. There’s no Lucky Numbers, no esports, uncertain streaming, and only a short history. Racing fans will still want Hollywoodbets or Betfred alongside it. For PSL, rugby and cricket, it does the job well.

A bonus is never a reason to bet more than you planned. Set limits in your account, and call the NRGP on 0800 006 008 if you need to talk to someone.
