Who Jabula Bets is
Jabula Bets is one of South Africa’s newer bookmakers. It launched in 2024 under Jabula Bets (Pty) Ltd and holds a Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board licence, number 10190512. “Jabula” means “be happy” in isiZulu, and the brand is aimed squarely at local punters: Rands, local football and payment methods that work without a bank card.
It offers a sportsbook and a casino of about 900 games in one account. This review covers the betting side: what we know about the bonus, the markets, live betting, mobile and the cashier.
The welcome offers (being confirmed)
Our data lists two sign-up offers for Jabula Bets. Both are marked being confirmed:
- a 50% first-deposit sports bonus up to R5,000
- 30 free spins on registration, for the casino
The important terms aren’t in our sources yet:
- Rollover: not published
- Minimum odds: not published
- Time limit: not published
- Minimum deposit: not published
The 30 free spins
The registration spins are a casino offer. Free spins usually carry a rollover on their winnings and a cap on what you can withdraw, and neither is in our data for Jabula Bets yet. If you only bet on sport, they’re a small extra you can ignore. If you do play them, check which slot they’re on and how long you have to use them, because spin offers often expire within a few days of registration.
How to judge it when you see the terms
A 50% match is smaller than the 100% matches at many rivals. To get the full R5,000 you’d need to deposit R10,000. For a R500 deposit, it’s R250 of bonus.
Whether that’s good value depends entirely on the rollover. Here’s how three common rollovers would play out on a R250 bonus:
- 3x the bonus: R750 in bets, easy for most punters
- 5x the bonus: R1,250 in bets
- 10x the bonus plus deposit: R7,500 in bets, which is a lot for R250 of bonus money
Find the rollover in Jabula Bets’ terms before you opt in, then run it through our wagering calculator. For offers where the terms are already confirmed, see our welcome bonus page.

Sports markets
Jabula Bets covers the competitions South African punters bet on most. Our data confirms:
- Football: the Betway Premiership (PSL), Nedbank Cup, Carling Knockout, Bafana Bafana, AFCON, the EPL, the Champions League and La Liga
- Rugby: the Springboks, the URC and the Currie Cup
- Cricket: the Proteas, SA20 and the IPL
- Other sports: tennis, golf, boxing and MMA
For a PSL weekend or a Bafana qualifier you’ll find the standard markets: match result, double chance, both teams to score, goals over/under and handicaps. Our PSL betting sites list compares how deep each bookmaker goes on local football.
Not in our data: horse racing, Lucky Numbers, esports and virtual sports. Racing fans will need a second account; our horse racing betting sites list has the specialists. For Lucky Numbers, see the Lucky Numbers list.
Odds
Jabula Bets is too new for us to have a track record of its pricing. New bookmakers often price headline PSL and EPL matches sharply to win customers, and take wider margins elsewhere. Compare a handful of your regular bets with one established site before you make Jabula Bets your main account. The odds converter helps with fractional odds.
Live betting and cash-out
Jabula Bets offers in-play betting on football and other major sports. Cash-out isn’t confirmed in our sources. Look for a cash-out button on your bet slip, and don’t assume you’ll be able to close a multi early. Bookmakers with confirmed cash-out are on our live betting list.
Mobile: no app yet
Our data shows no Android or iOS app for Jabula Bets. You bet through the mobile site, which runs in Chrome, Safari or any other browser. Save it to your home screen for quick access. You’ll miss push notifications, but the sportsbook and cashier work the same way.
If an app matters to you, compare our betting apps list.
Payments: built for punters without cards
Jabula Bets’ cashier is where it stands out. From our data:
- Instant EFT: Ozow and other Instant EFT (EasyEFT, BetterEFT, EFTsecure, Callpay, Swiffy) options
- Cards: Visa and Mastercard
- Vouchers: 1ForYou, OTT Voucher, Blu Voucher and EasyPay Voucher
- Mobile wallet: MTN MoMo
MTN MoMo is rare at South African bookmakers. If you already use MoMo to send and receive money, you can fund your betting account from your phone without a bank card. Four voucher brands mean you can also deposit with cash from almost any till in the country.
Our data doesn’t list Jabula Bets’ minimum deposit, withdrawal methods or payout times. Expect withdrawals by bank transfer after FICA. Verify your ID and address right after you sign up, so a payout isn’t delayed.
Verification and support
Every licensed South African bookmaker must check who you are before paying out. At Jabula Bets that means uploading:
- a clear photo of your green ID book, smart ID card or passport
- a proof of address less than three months old, such as a bank statement or utility bill
- proof of the payment method you deposited with, if support asks for it
Do this on the day you register. FICA checks are the most common reason a first withdrawal is delayed, and they’re far less stressful before you’ve won anything.
Our data doesn’t list Jabula Bets’ support channels or hours. Check the contact page for live chat, email or WhatsApp before you need help, and keep screenshots of any bet slip you want to query.
Licence and safety
Jabula Bets holds a Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board bookmaker licence, number 10190512. That means it’s bound by South African rules on FICA, bet settlement and responsible gambling, and you can complain to the board if a bet or payout goes wrong. Offshore sites can’t offer that.
It’s a young brand, so it doesn’t yet have the long payout record of older bookmakers. That’s not a red flag, just something to weigh.
Paying with MTN MoMo: what to expect
Because MoMo is new to most punters, a few practical points:
- You need an active, funded MoMo wallet before you choose it in the cashier.
- Deposits are approved on your phone. Mobile wallets typically send a payment request to your number that you confirm before the money moves, so keep your phone with you while you deposit.
- Check the withdrawal side. Our data confirms MoMo for deposits. Whether winnings can be paid back to MoMo isn’t confirmed, so plan on a bank transfer unless the cashier says otherwise.
Read more about the wallet and which other bookmakers take it on our MTN MoMo page.
Jabula Bets against similar new bookmakers
Several young, Western Cape-licensed bookmakers are fighting for the same punters. Next to two of them:
- Lulabet has apps on both platforms, a confirmed R250 free bet with a 1x rollover, and OTT voucher payouts. It’s further along than Jabula Bets.
- Swifty Sports has a confirmed 100% match up to R3,000 at 10x, plus Capitec Pay and Apple Pay deposits.
Jabula Bets’ advantage over both is MoMo and its spread of voucher brands. Its disadvantage is that its bonus terms aren’t confirmed yet.
Who Jabula Bets suits
Jabula Bets makes most sense if you bet on local football, pay with MoMo or vouchers rather than a card, and don’t need racing or an app. If you want a bonus you can plan around today, wait until the terms are published, or start with a bookmaker whose terms are confirmed.
How to sign up
- Register with your South African ID, phone number and email.
- Complete FICA with your ID and proof of address.
- Check the current welcome terms, including the rollover.
- Deposit with MoMo, a voucher, Ozow or card, and opt in if the terms suit you.
Verdict
Jabula Bets is a properly licensed new bookmaker with a strong local focus. Its cashier, with MTN MoMo and four voucher brands, is one of the most accessible in the country for punters who don’t use bank cards.
What’s missing:
- the welcome offers are still being confirmed, with no rollover published
- a 50% match is smaller than most rivals’ 100%
- no app
- no horse racing or Lucky Numbers in our data
- cash-out isn’t confirmed
If you bet on the PSL and pay with MoMo or vouchers, Jabula Bets is worth an account. For the full field, see our best betting sites list.
