What Plinko X is
Plinko X is a 2022 instant game from SmartSoft Gaming, the Georgian studio behind JetX. It’s based on the Plinko board from a well-known TV game show: a triangular board of pegs, a ball dropped from the top, and a row of slots at the bottom, each with a multiplier. The middle slots pay least, the edge slots pay most.
Plinko is one of the most popular instant games at crypto and offshore casinos, and Plinko X is one of several versions. Spribe’s Plinko and BGaming’s Plinko are the main alternatives.
How a round works
- Set your stake.
- Choose the risk level (and, in some versions, the number of peg rows). Higher risk spreads the multipliers further: the middle pays less and the edges pay much more.
- Drop the ball. It bounces off the pegs and lands in one of the bottom slots.
- Get paid your stake times that slot’s multiplier.
Most drops land near the middle, because that’s how the bounces add up. That’s why the centre slots pay below your stake on higher risk settings, and why the big edge multipliers are rare.
RTP and volatility in plain words
Plinko X has a published RTP of 98.5%, which is very high, higher than nearly all slots. The house edge on each drop is small. But drops take a second or two, so over hundreds of drops that small edge still adds up.
Volatility depends on the risk level you choose:
- Low risk: most drops return close to your stake. Small, steady movement.
- High risk: most drops return less than your stake, with occasional large edge hits.
The RTP is designed to be about the same whichever setting you pick. You’re choosing how bumpy the ride is, not how good the deal is.
Why the middle slots pay less
If you think of each peg as a coin flip, left or right, a ball that passes many pegs is far more likely to end up near the centre than at either edge. That’s simple probability. The multipliers are priced to match: the common middle results pay little and the rare edge results pay a lot. There’s no angle or timing that beats it.
Honest tips
- Autoplay is where Plinko gets expensive. Dropping 100 balls at once is quick and easy to repeat. Set a limit before you use it.
- High risk isn’t smarter. It doesn’t improve the odds; it just makes results swingier.
- Use the demo to see the distribution. Drop 200 balls and see where they land. The results will match the maths.
- Watch bonus terms. Many casino bonuses exclude instant games like Plinko from wagering.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a free Plinko X demo?
Yes, SmartSoft's demo plays on this page with fun credits and no sign-up.
How do you win at Plinko X?
You choose a stake and risk level and drop a ball. It bounces off the pegs and lands in a slot at the bottom; you win your stake times that slot's multiplier.
Can you control where the ball lands in Plinko X?
No. The ball's path is random. Choosing the risk level changes the multipliers on offer, not your control over the drop.
Is Plinko X better than Spribe's Plinko?
They play the same way. Plinko X has a slightly different board, risk settings and RTP. Try both demos and pick the one you prefer.
