Instant Money betting sites
Standard Bank Instant Money lets you withdraw betting winnings as cash without a bank account: the bookmaker sends a voucher to your cellphone and you collect it at a Standard Bank ATM or a till at Spar, Pick n Pay, Shoprite or PEP. In our data Betway, Hollywoodbets, PantherBet, YesPlay and Bet.co.za pay out this way, usually within 24 hours.

What Instant Money is
Instant Money is Standard Bank’s cash-send service. The sender, here a bookmaker, creates a voucher linked to your cellphone number. You receive an SMS with a voucher number and a PIN, then take those to a Standard Bank ATM or the till at a participating shop and walk away with notes. Standard Bank has grown the network to tens of thousands of collection points, including Spar, Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, PEP and Game.
For betting it solves a real problem. Many South African punters deposit with cash vouchers such as 1Voucher or OTT Voucher because they don’t have, or don’t want to use, a bank account. Vouchers only go one way, though. Instant Money gives those players a way to get winnings back as cash without opening an account or waiting for an EFT.
Where you can withdraw with Instant Money
Instant Money is a feature of South African licensed bookmakers, not offshore casinos. In our data it is listed at Betway, Hollywoodbets, PantherBet, YesPlay and Bet.co.za, plus Jackpot City. Lulabet pays out through OTT, which can be cashed via Instant Money. All of them are licensed by a provincial gambling board, so you have a local regulator to complain to if a payout goes wrong.
1Win, our featured casino, does not offer Instant Money in our data. It pays out by e-wallet, crypto and bank methods instead, so if cash collection matters to you, a local bookmaker is the better fit.
How to withdraw with Instant Money
- Finish FICA first. Upload your ID and proof of address. No licensed bookmaker releases a payout to an unverified account, and Instant Money is no exception.
- Open the withdrawal page and choose Instant Money (sometimes listed as “Standard Bank Instant Money” or “Cash Send”).
- Enter the amount and your cellphone number. It must be the number registered on your betting account.
- Wait for approval. The bookmaker checks the request, usually within a few hours.
- Collect the cash. When the SMS arrives, go to a Standard Bank ATM and choose Instant Money, or show the voucher number and PIN at a participating till.
Collect the exact amount on the voucher. Some retailers have their own limits on how much they’ll pay out in one go, so for a large win an ATM is often simpler.
Fees, limits and speed
- Fees: free to receive. The sender pays the creation fee; Standard Bank’s 2025 pricing guide lists R9.95 for a voucher created at a retailer and more for larger amounts sent from Standard Bank channels. Bookmakers normally absorb that cost.
- Limits: each bookmaker sets a minimum and maximum per Instant Money withdrawal, typically up to a few thousand Rand. Larger wins go by EFT.
- Speed: bookmaker approval takes one to 24 hours in the data we hold; the voucher itself arrives within minutes.
- Validity: up to three years to collect, according to Standard Bank’s terms.
Who it suits
Instant Money suits players who bet with cash. If you top up at a Shoprite till with a Blu Voucher and want winnings back the same way, this is the cleanest route. It also suits anyone who’d rather not link a bank account to a betting site.
It suits you less if you win large amounts regularly, because per-withdrawal caps mean you’ll end up splitting payouts. In that case a bank EFT, or an instant method like Ozow where the site pays out to it, is quicker overall.
Pros and cons
Pros
- No bank account needed: a cellphone number is enough.
- Thousands of collection points, including supermarkets open late and on weekends.
- Free for the player at the bookmakers we track.
- Only licensed SA bookmakers offer it, so you have a provincial board behind you.
Cons
- Withdrawals only at most sites; you still need another way to deposit.
- Per-voucher limits make it awkward for big wins.
- Anyone with your voucher number and PIN can collect the cash, so treat the SMS like cash.
- Not offered by offshore casinos.
Similar cash payout options
If your bookmaker doesn’t offer Instant Money, look for its siblings: FNB eWallet, Absa CashSend and Nedbank Send-iMali work the same way through their own banks’ ATMs. Hollywoodbets offers all four, so you can pick whichever ATM is nearest. To deposit without a bank account, a voucher or an MTN MoMo wallet works at many of the same bookmakers. See the full list on our payments page.
Cash payouts are still gambling money. Decide what you can afford before you play, set a deposit limit in your account, and if betting stops being fun, call the National Responsible Gambling Programme on 0800 006 008.
