03Our review

Who Virgin Bet suits

Virgin Bet arrived in South Africa in March 2026 as its first market outside the UK. It is owned by LiveScore Group, which also runs LiveScore Bet in Nigeria, and operates here through VB South Africa (Pty) Ltd under a Mpumalanga Economic Regulator licence. So while the brand is new to South Africans, the company behind it isn’t new to betting.

The casino suits:

  • Cautious first-timers. A R10 minimum deposit is one of the lowest in the country, and the welcome match starts at the same R10.
  • Slot players. The bonus terms reward slots and penalise almost everything else.
  • Players who want a local licence with a recognisable international name behind it.

It is less suited to Aviator and live casino players who want to use a bonus, since those games barely count, and to anyone who wants a long track record before they deposit. With only months of South African history, there is little player feedback yet on payout speed and support.

If you’re here mainly for the sportsbook, our Virgin Bet betting review covers the sports welcome offer and markets.

You choose the casino welcome offer when you sign up. It matches your first deposit 100% up to R3,000, from a R10 minimum. The bonus must be wagered 40 times within 14 days, and winnings from it are capped at R30,000.

What 40x looks like

The wagering applies to the bonus only, which is better than offers that count your deposit too. Even so, 40x is on the high side for a South African licensed brand. Some examples:

  • Deposit R100, get R100 bonus. Wager R4,000 on slots. At a 96% return to player, the expected cost is about R160.
  • Deposit R500, get R500 bonus. Wager R20,000. Expected cost about R800.
  • Deposit R3,000, get the full R3,000. Wager R120,000 in 14 days. Expected cost about R4,800, and that is roughly R8,500 of slot play every day for two weeks.

In each case, the expected cost of clearing the bonus is a little higher than the bonus itself. You might win, because slots swing, but on average the bonus buys you more playing time rather than more money. For most players a small deposit is the sensible way to use it. The wagering calculator shows the sums for any amount.

Which games count

This is the most important part of the terms. Each game contributes a percentage of your bet towards the 40x:

  • Slots: 100%. A R10 spin counts as R10.
  • Blackjack: 10%. A R100 hand counts as R10.
  • Game shows: 5%. A R100 bet on a live game show counts as R5.
  • Roulette and baccarat: 2%. A R100 bet counts as R2.
  • Crash games: 0%. Aviator and similar games don’t count at all.

So if your plan is to clear a bonus on roulette or Aviator, this offer isn’t for you. To wager R20,000 through roulette at 2% you would need to bet R1,000,000. Either play slots while the bonus is active, or skip the bonus and play anything you like with your own money.

The sports alternative

The sports welcome offer is also a 100% match up to R3,000, with 8x wagering on the bonus over 30 days at minimum odds (multis need 1.40 per leg and 2.00 in total, and virtual sports don’t count). If you bet on PSL or the Springboks regularly and only play slots occasionally, the sports offer is easier to clear. You can’t take both, so choose before you register.

Games and studios

Virgin Bet hasn’t published a total game count in our data, but reviews list titles from more than 25 studios. As with most South African bookmaker casinos, expect:

  • Slots from major studios such as Pragmatic Play, with popular titles like Sweet Bonanza and Big Bass Bonanza
  • Crash games including Aviator, popular for short sessions but excluded from bonus wagering
  • Live casino tables and game shows
  • Blackjack and roulette in digital and live versions

As a new casino, the lobby is still growing. If you want a very large choice today, older South African brands or offshore sites have more. Check whether your favourite games are available before depositing.

SA deposits and withdrawals, plus FICA

Virgin Bet’s cashier covers the essentials. Deposits start at R10 and methods include:

Payout times are not published in our data so far. Licensed South African bookmakers typically pay out to bank accounts within one to three working days once FICA is complete, but we’ll only rate Virgin Bet’s speed properly once its record is clear. Vouchers are deposit-only, so add your bank details for withdrawals.

FICA

Virgin Bet is regulated in South Africa, so you’ll verify your identity under FICA before withdrawing. Expect to upload a copy of your ID and a proof of address. The welcome bonus clock runs from your deposit, so get FICA done first; it would be a shame to lose days of your 14-day window waiting for approval.

Mobile

Virgin Bet’s casino works on its mobile site, and we don’t yet have confirmed details of app availability in our data, which is why the mobile score sits in the middle. The site is built for phones first, as you’d expect from a 2026 launch, and Capitec Pay deposits are particularly smooth on a phone since you approve them in your banking app.

Live casino streams use a fair amount of data. If you’re on a prepaid bundle, slots are much lighter.

Support and safety

Support details aren’t yet published in our data, so we score support conservatively until we can confirm the channels and hours.

Safety is Virgin Bet’s strongest area. The Mpumalanga licence means you have a local regulator if a complaint isn’t resolved, and LiveScore Group is an established operator. A small number of review sites list Virgin Bet under the Western Cape board instead; the Mpumalanga licence is the better-supported claim.

One industry-wide caveat: in October 2025 the Supreme Court of Appeal ruled in a Gauteng case that roulette is a casino game, not a sporting event, and so falls outside a bookmaker’s licence there. The National Gambling Board believes the ruling applies to bookmakers nationally; lawyers are divided. Casino sections at bookmakers like Virgin Bet remain open, but the rules may tighten.

How Virgin Bet compares

Against other locally licensed casinos, Virgin Bet’s R10 minimum deposit and wagering on the bonus only are strengths. Its 40x multiplier and 14-day window are stricter than some rivals: Easybet has a sign-up free bet at just 3x, and 10bet gives free spins with no wagering at all. For a mature lobby with a long track record, Betway and Hollywoodbets are the established choices. See all locally regulated options on our SA-licensed casinos list.

A 14-day plan if you take the bonus

If you decide to use the casino welcome offer, a plan keeps the 40x manageable:

  1. Pick a deposit you can wager comfortably. Divide the total wagering by 14 to see the daily amount. A R200 deposit and R200 bonus need R8,000 in bets, about R570 a day. If that’s more than you’d normally play, deposit less.
  2. Choose your slots in advance. Only slots count in full. Lower-volatility slots make it more likely your balance lasts the full wagering; high-volatility slots give a smaller chance of a bigger finish.
  3. Respect the maximum bet listed in the terms while the bonus is active.
  4. Check progress every few days in your account, rather than after every session.
  5. Walk away if it isn’t working. Forfeiting a bonus is better than raising your stakes to beat the deadline.

What we’ll be watching

Because Virgin Bet is new in South Africa, several parts of this review are provisional: payout times, support channels and hours, app availability and the full game count. We’ll update the scores once there’s a clear record. In the meantime, the best test is your own: a small deposit, a small withdrawal, and a note of how long it took.

Verdict

Virgin Bet is a credible newcomer: a local Mpumalanga licence, an experienced parent company, a R10 minimum deposit and Capitec Pay. For a slot player who wants to try a new brand with very little money, it’s an easy start.

The casino bonus is the weak link. 40x in 14 days is a lot of wagering, and with crash, roulette and live games counting little or nothing, it only suits slot players. Payout and support details are still to be confirmed. Our advice: deposit small, play slots while the bonus is active or skip it entirely, complete FICA first, and judge the brand by your first withdrawal.
