How Keno works
Keno is one of the oldest lottery games, and many South Africans know it from the Lucky Numbers section of their bookmaker. Spribe’s Keno is the instant version: no waiting for a scheduled draw, no tickets.
- Pick your numbers on the board (or use the random pick).
- Set your stake.
- Play. The game draws its numbers at once.
- Get paid according to how many of your picks were drawn. The paytable shows the multiplier for each number of hits.
The more numbers you pick, the more ways there are to hit, but the paytable changes too: picking many numbers needs more hits for a good payout.
The odds in plain words
Keno pays by “hits”: how many of your picks are drawn. Hitting all of a large set of numbers is very rare, which is why that pays the top multiplier of 100x. Hitting one or two is common and often pays less than your stake, or nothing.
Spribe sets the RTP at 97%, which is far better value than most lottery-style games. Bookmaker lotteries and national lotteries often return much less, because they fund prize pools and good causes.
Features
- Random pick if you don’t want to choose numbers.
- Paytable on screen that updates as you change how many numbers you pick.
- Auto play with a set number of rounds and stop limits.
- Provably fair history for every draw.
How to verify a Keno draw
Spribe’s provably fair check works the same way across its games:
- Before you play, you see the hash of the server seed.
- Your client seed (changeable) and a nonce (draw number) are combined with it.
- The combined hash is turned into the drawn numbers.
- After the draw, the server seed is revealed. Hash it with SHA-256, compare it with the earlier hash, and recompute the draw.
Our provably fair verifier can help.
Honest tips
- “Hot” and “cold” numbers don’t exist. Every draw is independent.
- Fewer picks, steadier results. Picking a handful of numbers gives frequent small wins; picking the maximum makes results swingier.
- Instant Keno is fast. Auto play can run many draws a minute; set a stop-loss.
- Check whether bonus wagering counts. Many SA offers exclude or reduce crash and instant games.
