Online casinos and betting in Chad

We found no specific online gambling law in Chad, so the legal status of online casinos and betting there is unclear. No local online operator appears in our data; Chadians who bet online use offshore sites and usually pay with Airtel Money, Moov Money or USDT.

Chad is a large, landlocked country in the heart of Africa, and its law on online gambling is close to silent. We could not identify any specific legislation on online gambling: nothing licensing online casinos or bookmakers, and nothing clearly banning Chadians from using foreign sites. Both online categories are unclear in our data. We could not confirm a regulator or a minimum gambling age either.

Chad has a large Muslim population, and many people see gambling as forbidden on religious grounds, even where the law doesn’t address it. The social context matters as much as the legal one.

This page describes what we could establish. It is not legal advice, and the position may change.

What “unclear” means in practice

When there is no online gambling law:

  • No local authority checks the sites. Nobody in N’Djamena tests the games, audits payouts or handles complaints about online operators.
  • The foreign licence is your only oversight. That makes choosing an established brand far more important.
  • Things can change quickly. Governments with no online rules sometimes introduce blocking or taxes with little notice.

Offshore brands that accept Chadian players

The list above shows the international brands that accept players from Chad, starting with 1Win. They are followed by the 1xBet family (1xBet, 22Bet, Melbet, Betwinner, Megapari and PariPesa) and the crypto casinos BC.Game, Cloudbet and Rollbit.

All of them are licensed abroad, mostly in Curaçao, with BC.Game licensed in Anjouan. Before you register:

  • Find the licence number in the site footer and check it matches the company named in the terms.
  • Check the restricted-country list. If Chad is on it, the site can close your account and void winnings.
  • Read the withdrawal terms: minimums, limits, methods and processing times.
  • Treat bonuses carefully. 1Win advertises a 500% welcome package across several deposits, but its terms for Chad aren’t confirmed by us. Our bonus terms guide explains the clauses that matter.

Paying with Airtel Money, Moov Money and USDT

Two mobile wallets lead in our data:

They are how most Chadians send and receive money, in CFA francs (XAF). Some international betting sites offer them for Central Africa, but many don’t. The usual alternative is Tether (USDT), a stablecoin tied to the US dollar.

The CFA franc and the euro. Chad uses the Central African CFA franc, which is pegged to the euro. If an offshore site holds your balance in euros, the exchange rate itself is stable, though each conversion still costs a little in fees and spreads. Balances in US dollars or crypto add real currency risk.

Crypto safety. If you use USDT:

  • buy and sell only through reputable exchanges or escrow services;
  • send a small test amount before a larger one;
  • check the network and address every time, because transfers can’t be reversed.

Our crypto casino guide explains wallets and networks for beginners.

Verification. Upload your ID straight after registering. The first withdrawal is when sites check documents, and having them approved early avoids delays.

What a bonus costs in CFA francs

Big percentages hide the real cost of a bonus. A simple example, not tied to any brand: you deposit CFA 10,000 and receive a 100% match, another CFA 10,000 in bonus money. With 35x wagering on the bonus, you must bet CFA 350,000 before withdrawing. At slots returning around 96% over time, that turnover costs about CFA 14,000 on average, more than the bonus. Light wagering, or no bonus, is often the better deal.

Withdrawals without a local regulator

With no Chadian authority to fall back on, preparation is everything:

  1. Verify early, with ID and, if asked, proof of address.
  2. Withdraw the way you deposited. Most sites insist on it.
  3. Finish or cancel bonuses first. Withdrawing with an active bonus can void the bonus and its winnings.
  4. Keep records: screenshots of deposits, withdrawal requests and support chats.
  5. Escalate in order: support first, in writing; then the licensing body named in the site’s footer.

Football: the Chad Premier League and Europe

Football is Chad’s most popular sport. The Chad Premier League is the domestic competition, but betting interest is overwhelmingly European: France’s Ligue 1, given the French-language connection, then the English Premier League, the Champions League and La Liga.

Language and support

French and Arabic are Chad’s official languages. Most international brands offer French, and some offer Arabic. Check that the terms and the live chat work in a language you’re comfortable with before depositing. Misunderstood bonus rules are one of the most common causes of disputes.

Scams to avoid

Where there’s no regulated market, scams fill the gap. Never send mobile money to a personal number to “fund” a betting account, ignore anyone selling fixed matches, install apps only from an operator’s official website, and never share your wallet PIN.

Responsible gambling in Chad

We could not confirm a national gambling helpline in Chad. Use the tools on your account:

  • Deposit limits, set before you start.
  • Time-outs when you notice yourself chasing losses.
  • Self-exclusion at every site if betting is hurting your finances or family.
  • Support: talk to someone you trust, or use a free online service such as Gambling Therapy.

Gambling costs money; it is never a way to make it. Our responsible gambling tools guide explains each limit.

Chad and its neighbours

To the south-west, Cameroon licenses sports betting, including online. The Central African Republic to the south has no identified gambling legislation and very limited options. Neighbours to the north and east, including Libya and Sudan, are conflict-affected markets where offshore coverage is limited.

Summary

  • Chad has no specific online gambling law; online play is legally unclear.
  • No regulator or local online operator was identified.
  • Airtel Money and Moov Money are the main wallets; USDT is the common offshore route.
  • 1Win and the brands above accept Chadians under foreign licences.
  • Bet only what you can afford to lose.
