How to play Aviator
In Aviator you place a bet before the plane takes off, watch the multiplier climb, and cash out before the plane flies away: cash out at 2x and a R10 bet returns R20, but if the plane leaves first you lose the stake. The game has a published RTP of 97%, so about 3% of every bet goes to the house over time.

Aviator by Spribe is the most popular crash game in South Africa, and on many betting sites it’s the most played game full stop. It takes seconds to learn and is easy to over-play. This guide covers the rules, the controls, the real odds and how to keep it under control.
The basics in 30 seconds
- A round starts with a short countdown. Place your bet now.
- The plane takes off and a multiplier climbs from 1.00x: 1.20x, 1.50x, 2x, 5x and sometimes far higher.
- Press Cash Out whenever you like. You win your stake times the multiplier at that moment.
- At a random point the plane flies away. Anyone who hasn’t cashed out loses their stake for that round.
That’s the whole game. Rounds last from a second to a minute or so, which is why it moves so fast.
The controls
Two bets at once
The screen has two bet panels. You can use one, or both with different stakes and cash-out points. A common approach is a larger bet with an early cash-out and a smaller bet left to run. This doesn’t change the odds (see below), but it does change how your results feel round to round.
Auto bet and auto cash-out
Auto cash-out lets you set a target, for example 1.80x, and the game cashes out for you if the plane reaches it. It removes the temptation to hold on, and it’s the single most useful setting in the game. Auto bet repeats your stake every round. Use it with care: it makes it very easy to play a lot of rounds without noticing.
Live bets, chat and rain
The side panel shows other players’ bets and cash-outs, a chat and a history of recent multipliers. Some operators enable “rain”, where small free bets drop into the chat for active players. None of this information helps you predict the next round.
The odds, honestly
Aviator’s published RTP is 97%. In a crash game, that means the chance of the plane reaching any multiplier is roughly 97% divided by that multiplier:
| Cash-out target | Chance the plane gets there | R10 bet returns |
|---|---|---|
| 1.20x | about 81% | R12 |
| 1.50x | about 65% | R15 |
| 2x | about 49% | R20 |
| 3x | about 32% | R30 |
| 5x | about 19% | R50 |
| 10x | about 10% | R100 |
| 100x | about 1% | R1,000 |
Two things follow from this table.
- Every target has the same expected loss. Cash out at 1.20x or at 10x, the long-run cost is about 3% of what you bet. Low targets win often and pay little; high targets win rarely and pay a lot.
- Losing streaks are normal. Even at 2x, where you win about half the time, you’ll lose five rounds in a row about 4% of the time. Over a long session that happens more than once.
Our crash game strategy guide goes deeper into targets, streaks and why systems like doubling up don’t work, and the crash probability tool shows the chances for any target.
Is Aviator fair?
Aviator is provably fair. Before each round, the crash point is fixed by combining a server seed (hashed and shown in advance) with seeds from the first players who bet in that round. After the round you can open the round details and check the result yourself. That proves the operator didn’t change the result after you bet. It doesn’t change the house edge. Our guide to how provably fair works explains the maths.
Aviator “predictors” and signals are scams
You’ll see apps, Telegram channels and TikTok videos selling Aviator predictors, signals or “hacks”. They don’t work. The crash point is fixed before the round by cryptographic seeds that no app can read in advance. People selling predictions make their money from subscriptions, from affiliate sign-ups or by stealing login details. Never share your betting account password or OTP with anyone.

Play the demo first
You can try Aviator in demo mode with virtual money, no sign-up needed. It’s the best way to get used to the speed of the game and to see how often low and high multipliers really appear before you put any money in. If you like the format, compare it with other crash games:
Aviator on your phone
Most South Africans play Aviator on mobile. It runs inside the bookmaker’s app or mobile site, so there’s nothing separate to download from Spribe. A few practical points:
- Data use is low, but a weak connection can delay your cash-out tap. Auto cash-out is processed on the server, so it’s safer on a patchy signal.
- Data-free apps from some bookmakers cover browsing and betting, but games may still use data. Check the bookmaker’s data-free terms.
- Avoid “Aviator APK” downloads from outside official app stores and bookmaker websites. They’re a common way to spread malware or steal logins.
Tips that actually help
These won’t beat the house edge, but they do keep the game in proportion:
- Set a session budget before you start and stop when it’s gone. Aviator rounds are quick, so a budget disappears faster than on a slot.
- Use auto cash-out so the decision is made before the round, not in the heat of it.
- Keep stakes flat. Raising your stake after a loss is how sessions go badly wrong.
- Take breaks. Set a time reminder in your account, or a timer on your phone.
- Ignore the history panel. A run of low multipliers doesn’t make a big one “due”.
If it stops being fun
Fast games like Aviator are among the easiest to lose track of. If you find yourself chasing losses or playing longer than you planned, set a deposit limit or take a time-out in your account settings, and talk to the National Responsible Gambling Programme on 0800 006 008. It’s free and confidential.

Frequently asked questions
How do you play Aviator?
Place one or two bets during the short countdown before each round, then press Cash Out while the multiplier is climbing. Your stake is multiplied by the number shown when you cash out. If the plane flies away before you cash out, you lose that bet.
Is there a trick to win Aviator?
No. Each round's crash point is generated randomly before the round starts and can be verified as provably fair. No pattern, app or 'predictor' can tell you when the plane will leave, and any app claiming to do so is a scam.
What is the minimum bet on Aviator in South Africa?
It depends on the site. Many SA bookmakers allow bets from R1 or less, while some casinos set a higher minimum. The minimum and maximum are shown in the bet panel.
Where can I play Aviator in South Africa?
Most SA betting sites carry Aviator, including Betway and Hollywoodbets, and offshore casinos such as 1Win do too. Our Aviator casinos list shows where it's available and the bonus at each.
Can I play Aviator for free?
Yes. You can play the Aviator demo with virtual money on our Aviator page, and some bookmakers give free Aviator flights as a sign-up offer.
What is the Aviator RTP?
Spribe publishes an RTP of 97% for Aviator, meaning a 3% house edge. That's the long-run average across all players, not a promise for any session.
