What Starlight Princess 1000 is

Starlight Princess 1000 is a 2023 release from Pragmatic Play in its “1000” range, where popular slots are re-released with much bigger multipliers. The anime-style princess, the starry sky and the gem symbols are the same as in Starlight Princess. The difference is in the numbers.

How a round works

The game uses a six-reel, five-row grid that pays anywhere: eight or more matching symbols anywhere win. Tumbles remove winners and drop new symbols in, so wins can chain within one spin.

Multiplier orbs can land at random. When the tumble sequence ends, all orb values on screen are added and applied to that spin’s total win. In the 1000 version, orbs can be worth up to 1,000x. Wilds with multipliers and random multipliers add to the base game.

Free spins

Four or more scatters trigger free spins. Each orb that lands during the round adds to a total multiplier that applies to every win for the rest of the feature. With 1,000x orbs possible, a single lucky orb early in the round can change everything. Extra scatters add additional free spins. A bonus buy is available where allowed.

The maximum win is 15000 times your stake.

RTP and volatility in plain words

The RTP is 96.5%, higher than the original’s and around the average. As always with Pragmatic, check the info screen; casinos can choose lower versions.

Volatility is high, and arguably higher than the original. Bigger orbs mean the return is concentrated into even rarer spins. Expect many sessions to end below where you started.

Original or 1000?

If you like the princess theme, the choice comes down to risk. The original has smaller orbs, a lower ceiling and a slightly lower RTP. The 1000 version pays back a little more on average but puts more of that return into very rare big wins. On a small budget, the original’s results are a little less extreme; on paper, the 1000 version is the better deal. Try both demos.

The 1000 range

Pragmatic has released 1000 versions of several hits, including Gates of Olympus 1000 and The Dog House Megaways 1000. They follow the same idea: same game, bigger multipliers, higher top win, slightly different RTP. If you know the original, you’ll know the 1000 version.

Why bigger multipliers don’t mean bigger average wins

It’s tempting to think a game with 1,000x orbs pays more than one with 500x orbs. On average, it doesn’t by much: the RTP is only slightly higher. What changes is the spread. To make room for rare 1,000x orbs, the game hands out more small orbs and fewer medium ones. So more of your sessions will be quiet, and a few will be spectacular.

Honest tips

• Don’t stake more because the multipliers are bigger. Bigger multipliers are rarer.
• Bonus buy in demo first to see how often it pays back.
• Set a hard stop for the session.
• Remember the top win is theoretical.
