Online casinos and betting in Sudan

Gambling is a criminal offence in Sudan under the 1991 Criminal Act, and there is no licensing regime for online casinos or betting. Only 1Win, BC.Game and Cloudbet are confirmed to accept Sudanese accounts, and the war, sanctions and disrupted banking make any use of them high risk.

The law in Sudan

Gambling is a criminal offence in Sudan. The 1991 Criminal Act, which is based on Islamic law, prohibits it, and there is no licensing regime for casinos, betting shops, online casinos or online sportsbooks. There is no legal way to gamble in Sudan, online or off.

This is the position as our research found it in November 2026. It is general information, not legal advice. Because gambling carries criminal penalties, the legal risk to you is more serious than in countries where it is simply unregulated.

A country at war

Since April 2023, Sudan has been at war, with millions of people displaced. Banks have closed or lost access to systems, the internet and mobile networks go down for long periods, and international sanctions measures target parties to the conflict. Any discussion of online betting in Sudan has to start there.

For most people in Sudan, gambling is far down the list of concerns. We keep this page short and factual because people search for it, not because we think it is a good time or place to gamble.

The very few sites that accept Sudanese players

International brands are cautious about conflict-affected and sanctioned markets. Our research could confirm only three that accept Sudanese accounts, and they are listed above:

  • 1Win, licensed in Curaçao;
  • BC.Game, a crypto casino and sportsbook licensed in Anjouan;
  • Cloudbet, a crypto-focused site licensed in Curaçao.

Being accepted by a site does not make betting legal in Sudan. Other brands, including the 1xBet family, may have Sudan on their restricted lists; we could not confirm coverage, so we don’t list them. An account opened from a restricted country can be closed with the balance kept.

Why payments are so difficult

Our data lists three payment options:

  • Bankak, the Bank of Khartoum’s mobile app, which is how many Sudanese move money at home and abroad, but which offshore gambling sites don’t accept;
  • Tether (USDT) and Bitcoin (BTC), which are the only practical deposit routes for offshore sites.

Crypto doesn’t remove the risk; it moves it. You need somewhere trustworthy to buy coins, often peer to peer, every conversion costs a spread, and a transfer to a wrong address or a fake site cannot be reversed. With the Sudanese pound (SDG) under heavy pressure, the gap between the price you pay for crypto and what you get back can be large. Our crypto guide covers wallet safety; it is written for South Africans, but the basics are universal.

Withdrawals are the other half. Offshore sites ask for ID before paying out, and some will apply extra checks or refuse documents from high-risk countries. A balance you can’t withdraw isn’t really yours.

Scams to be aware of

War creates fertile ground for fraud, and gambling is a common hook. Watch for:

  • “Agents” offering to fund an account for cash or a Bankak transfer, who disappear with the money or fund the account with payments that are later reversed;
  • peer-to-peer crypto sellers who take payment and never send the coins;
  • clone sites and apps shared in messaging groups, built to look like real brands and take deposits;
  • “guaranteed” tips or fixed matches sold for a fee. These don’t exist; anyone selling them is the one making money.

Type a site’s address yourself, never install an app from a file someone forwards, and use only crypto sellers with escrow and a long record. Keep screenshots of terms you accepted and the transaction ID of every deposit, because with no local regulator your records are the only evidence you’ll have in a dispute.

What the offshore licence means for you

The three brands are licensed outside Africa. That licence lets them operate; it gives you no Sudanese body to complain to, and the foreign regulators’ complaint processes are slow and limited. Our explainer on offshore licences sets out what they cover.

About bonuses

Bonuses on this page appear only as percentages and spins: amounts in our data are set for South Africa and don’t apply in Sudan. 1Win’s welcome package is a 500% match over your first deposits in the version we track. In a market where withdrawals are uncertain, a bonus that locks your money behind wagering is a poor deal. Our wagering guide explains why, and declining a bonus is always an option.

Sudanese living abroad

Millions of Sudanese now live outside the country, in Egypt, Chad, the Gulf states and further afield. If that includes you, the rules that apply are those of the country you are in, not Sudan’s, and offshore sites decide eligibility by where you are and what documents you hold. A site may accept you in one country and refuse you in the next, and payment methods change with your location. Check the restricted-country list and the cashier for the country you are actually in before you deposit.

Football

Football is Sudan’s main sport. The Sudan Premier League, long dominated by Al-Hilal and Al-Merrikh of Omdurman, has been heavily disrupted by the war. International football, especially the Premier League, Champions League and La Liga, is what most fans follow now.

Offshore books cover the European leagues. If anyone does bet, the only sensible approach is small, fixed amounts that you can afford to lose entirely, including to a dropped connection mid-bet.

If gambling is harming you

We could not confirm a national gambling helpline in Sudan. Help is still available:

  • Gamblers Anonymous runs online meetings open to anyone.
  • A doctor or a trusted person in your community can help confidentially.
  • On any site, self-exclusion locks your account; ask support to close it if you need to stop.

Our responsible gambling page lists the warning signs to look for.

The bottom line

Gambling is a crime in Sudan, the country is at war, and the handful of offshore sites that accept Sudanese accounts can only be funded with crypto. Our honest view is that the risks outweigh anything a betting site can offer here. If you choose to play anyway, keep amounts small, skip bonuses, verify early and withdraw promptly.

Nearby countries

Egypt bars its citizens from gambling and blocks offshore sites, and Libya is another conflict-affected market where gambling is prohibited and options are very limited.
