Who Light & Wonder is
Light & Wonder is the company formerly known as Scientific Games. Its roots go back to 1984, and over the decades it bought some of the biggest names in gaming: Bally, WMS, Shuffle Master and the online supplier NYX. In 2022, after selling its lottery and sports betting arms, it renamed itself Light & Wonder and focused on slots, table products and online games. It is based in Las Vegas and holds licences from the UK Gambling Commission, the Malta Gaming Authority and many US states.
Its online slots include adaptations of hit cabinets, original online games and titles from partner studios distributed through its platform.
What Light & Wonder games are known for
- Casino-floor hits brought online. Series like Huff N’ Puff, Dancing Drums and 88 Fortunes started on cabinets.
- Hold-and-spin and jackpot features. Coin collection, prize pots and progressive jackpots are common.
- Medium volatility. Built for long sessions with regular small wins.
- Lower RTPs on some ports. Land-based adaptations often sit around 94% to 96%.
Best Light & Wonder games
- Huff N' Even More Puff: the latest in the Three Little Pigs-themed Huff N’ Puff series, with house-building upgrades and a wolf feature. Its RTP is 94% and its top win 7500x. A 94% RTP means about R6 of every R100 staked goes to the casino over time.
- Jin Ji Bao Xi Endless Treasure Megaways: a Megaways version of the Jin Ji Bao Xi series, with an Asian theme and thousands of ways to win. Its RTP isn’t confirmed in our data.
Where South Africans can play Light & Wonder
Light & Wonder’s online games are common in the UK and US but rare at South African-facing online casinos. We haven’t confirmed a South African provincially licensed online casino that lists them. Offshore sites with very large libraries, such as 1Win, which offers 500% up to R75,000 over 4 deposits and is licensed in Curaçao, are the most likely to have them. Check the lobby first.
Light & Wonder in South African casinos
If you play at a South African casino resort, you’ve almost certainly seen Light & Wonder’s cabinets, under the Bally, WMS or Light & Wonder names. Its online catalogue is a separate business, though. A game you know from the floor may not exist online, and the online version may use different maths. Treat the online demo or info screen as the real description.
