How a round works
Mustang Gold from Pragmatic Play is set on a desert ranch at sunset: a wild mustang, a cowboy hat, a horseshoe and a revolver among the symbols. It plays on five reels and three rows with 25 fixed lines, and wins pay from the left.
The game has two routes to bigger wins. Gold coins with cash values can land on the reels, and collecting them leads to a pick-style bonus. Separately, scatters start free spins.
Features
- 25 lines, paying from the left.
- Gold coins: carry cash values or jackpot labels, shown as multiples of your stake.
- Coin collection: coins add to a collection that leads into the bonus.
- Pick-and-win bonus: choose objects to reveal cash prizes and fixed jackpots.
- Free spins: scatters trigger the round, with stacked wilds and multipliers.
- Fixed jackpots: set multiples of your bet, so they scale with your stake.
The top win is 12000x the stake.
RTP and volatility
The RTP in our data is 95.54%. Pragmatic Play offers casinos other versions too, so check the paytable.
High volatility comes from the two bonuses. Most spins return a small line win or nothing; a coin bonus or free spins round decides whether a session ends up or down. The pick bonus feels like it involves choice, but each pick reveals a pre-set random prize, so there’s no right or wrong pick.
Who Mustang Gold suits
It suits players who like a classic five-reel slot with a couple of features to watch for, and who enjoy the anticipation of a pick bonus. It’s less suited to small balances, because it can go a long time between features. If you like coin-collect games, Big Bass Bonanza uses a similar idea with fish, and Chilli Heat has a hold-and-win coin bonus.
Honest tips
- Picks are random. There’s no pattern to where the big prizes hide.
- Fixed jackpots scale with the bet. So do your losses on dry spins.
- Two bonuses share one RTP. Having more features doesn’t mean higher value.
- Practise in the demo to see how often each bonus appears.
