Duelbits sportsbook review
Duelbits is a Curaçao-licensed crypto sportsbook that suits esports punters, but it has no South African licence and no Rand account. Instead of a sports sign-up bonus it pays rakeback on every bet, and crypto withdrawals usually land within about 30 minutes.

Duelbits in one paragraph
Duelbits launched in 2020 as a crypto casino and grew a sportsbook with a strong esports lean. It’s run by Liquid Gaming N.V. under a Curaçao licence (OGL/2024/1507/0838). There’s no Rand wallet, no local payment method and no provincial licence, so it sits in a very different category from the bookmakers most South Africans use. This review is for punters who already hold crypto and want esports and global football markets. The slots, originals and live casino are covered in our Duelbits casino review.
No sports welcome bonus: rakeback instead
Duelbits doesn’t run a classic “100% up to” sports bonus. Its published deal for bettors is rakeback: a percentage of the house edge on every bet is returned to you, with no wagering attached.
How it works in practice:
- Rate: grows with your VIP level, up to a top rate of 60%
- Applies to: casino games and sports and esports bets
- Wagering: none; what you receive is withdrawable
Rakeback is worth less than a deposit match on day one but it never expires and has no rollover. A punter who places R2,000 a month in bets at a typical sportsbook margin is returning a small amount each month, not a bonus that changes the maths. It’s best seen as a discount on the bookmaker’s edge.
There’s also a tiered VIP scheme with level-up rewards. The deposit match some sites mention for Duelbits is unconfirmed in current terms and is quoted in dollars, so we don’t count it here. If you want a Rand welcome bonus on sport, look at the best betting sites list, or our featured offshore pick 1Win, which runs ZAR accounts.
Odds and margins
Crypto sportsbooks compete hard on headline football prices, and Duelbits is no exception: the main markets on EPL, Champions League and La Liga matches are generally priced in line with other international books. The margin widens on lower-tier esports matches and props, where fewer bookmakers set prices and the data is thinner.
Duelbits displays odds in decimal by default, which is the format South Africans are used to. Our odds converter turns them into implied probability, so you can see how much margin is built into any market.
One practical point: you’re betting in crypto, so the Rand value of your stake and winnings moves with the coin price. A winning bet in Bitcoin can be worth less in Rands by the time you cash it out. Stablecoins such as USDT remove that swing, which is why most bettors use them.
Markets
Esports: the main reason to use it
Esports is Duelbits’ strength. It covers the major titles, including CS2, Dota 2 and League of Legends, with markets such as:
- match winner and map winner
- map handicaps and total maps
- extra props on the bigger matches, depending on the event
- outright winners for majors and international events
The depth is better on tier-one events than on smaller regional circuits. Even so, it’s well beyond what a South African provincial bookmaker offers on esports. Compare with Thunderpick, which is built entirely around esports.
Football and other sports
Football coverage follows the international game: the EPL, Champions League, La Liga and the other big European leagues. You’ll also find tennis, the IPL, boxing and MMA in our data.
Local markets are where it falls short. The PSL, Nedbank Cup, Currie Cup and SA20 are not confirmed, and there’s no horse racing, Lucky Numbers or Betgames. Anyone who mainly bets on Kaizer Chiefs, the Sharks or Greyville needs a South African bookmaker; our PSL betting sites list is the place to start.
Live betting and cash-out
Live betting is the natural fit for esports, where odds update between rounds and maps, and it also covers the major football leagues. Fast crypto settlement means a winning live bet is in your balance as soon as the market is settled.
Cash-out isn’t confirmed in the published terms we read, so don’t plan around it. Where a crypto book does offer it, the cash-out price includes a margin, so taking it early usually costs you some expected value.
Mobile
Duelbits has no Android or iOS app. The site is built mobile-first and runs well in Chrome or Safari, with the bet slip, wallet and live markets all on one screen. You can save it to your home screen. Be wary of “Duelbits APK” downloads from third-party sites: they aren’t from the operator.
Deposits and withdrawals
Everything runs on crypto. The cashier takes Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Tether (USDT) and a list of Other crypto (SOL, DOGE, XRP, BNB, TRX, USDC, BCH and more) such as SOL, DOGE, XRP and USDC.
For a South African the route looks like this:
- Buy coins (USDT is simplest) on a local exchange such as Luno, VALR or Ovex, paying in Rands by EFT.
- Send them to your Duelbits deposit address on the right network.
- Bet, then withdraw back to the exchange and sell for Rands.
Withdrawals are processed Within 30 minutes (crypto) in most cases. The fees and the spread on the exchange, plus network fees, are a real cost: on small amounts they can be larger than any rakeback you earn. Minimum withdrawals are set per coin in dollar terms. Our Bitcoin betting guide explains the steps in more detail.
Licence and what it means for you
Duelbits holds a Curaçao licence. That gives a basic framework for fairness and anti-money-laundering checks, but it’s no substitute for a South African licence:
- There’s no provincial board to take a dispute to.
- Duelbits can close accounts or void bets under its own terms, and your only recourse is its support team and the Curaçao regulator.
- Some countries are restricted, and sources don’t confirm South Africa either way, so check the terms and don’t use a VPN to get around a block. Accounts found doing so can be closed with funds withheld.
Under South African law, online betting is only licensed provincially. Our responsible gambling page explains what protections you give up with an offshore book.
A worked example: R1,000 on a CS2 final
Here’s what a typical esports bet costs from a South African bank account, start to finish:
- You buy R1,000 of USDT on a local exchange. After the exchange’s spread you might hold the equivalent of R985 to R990.
- You send it to Duelbits on a cheap network such as Tron. The network fee is small but not zero.
- You back a team at 1.80 to win the match. If it wins, your balance shows the equivalent of about R1,780.
- You withdraw to the exchange and sell for Rands, paying a spread and fee again, then withdraw to your bank.
On a winning bet the costs are a small slice of the profit. On a losing bet you’ve lost the stake plus the fees in. Over many small bets the fees add up, which is why crypto sportsbooks work better for fewer, larger bets than for lots of R20 punts. Rakeback offsets a little of this, but not all of it.
Duelbits against a local bookmaker
| Duelbits | Typical provincially licensed bookmaker | |
|---|---|---|
| Account currency | Crypto | Rands |
| Welcome offer | Rakeback, no sports match | Deposit match or free bet |
| Esports depth | Deep on major titles | Limited or none |
| PSL, racing, Lucky Numbers | Not confirmed / none | Full coverage |
| Dispute route | Curaçao regulator | Provincial board |
If the right-hand column describes what you bet on, a local book will serve you better. If it’s the left, Duelbits makes sense as a specialist account.
Support
Duelbits offers 24/7 live chat and email. There’s no phone line, so keep your account email and wallet addresses handy when you contact support about a withdrawal.
Before you deposit
A short checklist for South Africans thinking about Duelbits:
- Read the restricted-countries list in the terms and make sure South Africa isn’t on it today.
- Send a small test deposit first, on the network the cashier names, to check the address and timing.
- Keep a note of what you’ve put in, in Rands, so your spending stays visible even when your balance is in USDT.
Verdict
Duelbits is a solid choice for one specific punter: someone who already holds crypto, bets mostly on esports or the big European football leagues, and values fast withdrawals and wager-free rakeback over a welcome bonus. The esports menu is deeper than any local bookmaker’s.
For most South Africans it’s the wrong main account. There are no Rands, no Ozow or vouchers, no PSL or racing to speak of, and no provincial licence. Use it alongside a licensed local bookmaker, not instead of one.
Crypto makes it easy to lose track of what you’re spending, so set a monthly limit in Rands before you start. The NRGP helpline is free on 0800 006 008.

There's no dedicated sports welcome bonus in its published offers. New players get rakeback on casino and sports bets that grows with VIP level, plus the Rookie Rush wager-free spins on the casino side.

No. Duelbits accounts run on cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and USDT. You'd buy coins on a South African exchange first and send them to your Duelbits wallet.
