Who RubyPlay is
RubyPlay is a slot developer based in Malta, with a development base in Kyiv, Ukraine. Sources date its start to 2017 or 2018. It holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence and a Romanian ONJN licence, and reports a Curaçao licence too. Its games are approved in regulated US states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia, and in markets like the Netherlands. That’s a strong regulatory footprint for a studio of its size.
RubyPlay releases a steady stream of games and distributes them through aggregators such as SOFTSWISS.
What RubyPlay games are known for
- Bright, cartoon art. Mexican, Asian and fantasy themes with bold colours.
- Feature stacking. Several features in one game: respins, symbol upgrades, multipliers and jackpots.
- “Giga” mechanics. Some games use oversized symbols that fill big areas of the grid.
- Medium volatility on many titles, with large headline top wins.
Best RubyPlay games
Giga Match Sugar Skull is the RubyPlay slot in our library, and “giga match sugar skull demo” is a regular search in South Africa. It’s a Day of the Dead-themed slot with an RTP of 96.32%, medium volatility and a top win of 18997x your stake. That’s an unusually large ceiling for a medium-volatility game, so most of that potential sits in rare feature combinations.
Where South Africans can play RubyPlay
RubyPlay appears mainly at international casinos, many of them on SOFTSWISS. We haven’t confirmed a South African provincially licensed casino that lists it. 1Win has a large slot library open to South Africans and offers 500% up to R75,000 over 4 deposits; it’s licensed in Curaçao, so there’s no provincial board to complain to.
With an RTP above 96% and medium volatility, Giga Match Sugar Skull is a reasonable bonus game if the casino counts it 100% towards wagering. Our wagering calculator shows what a bonus costs in Rands.
RubyPlay in regulated US states
RubyPlay is one of the few mid-sized studios approved in several US states, where testing and approval rules are strict. That doesn’t change anything for South Africans directly. It does show that its games have passed some of the tougher certification regimes in the industry. It also means RubyPlay has to publish clear game rules and RTP figures for those markets, so the info screen in its games is usually detailed and worth a read before you start.
