Get Ready to Rock with ZZ Top Roadside Riches Slot Game

Launched in the summer of 2021, we like to think you’ll be familiar with the theme in Play‘n Go’s new slot game ZZ Top Roadside Riches. The band should need little to no introduction, even among the younger slot players out there. Similarly, if you are used to spinning the reels of Play‘n Go slots, you’ll already be familiar with the gaming engine here – high volatility action, epic cash prizes and affordable stakes.

Music-themed slots, in particular rock ‘n’ roll games, tend to do rather well right now. ZZ Top Roadside Riches follows in the footsteps of Guns ‘N’ Roses, Twisted Sister (also Play‘n Go), Jimi Hendrix, Kiss, Motörhead, Slayer and a handful of other rock and metal bands to have a slot based on them. Don’t let the retro, roadside diner reels confuse you, though; there is plenty of rock ‘n’ roll to be had across the reels of this game and in its features, limited though they may be. Discover what we mean as you plough on through the rest of our ZZ Top slot review.
ZZ Top Roadside Riches was 50 Years in the Making
ZZ Top was founded in 1969, though they didn’t hit the mainstream until 1983. Over fifty years later, they’ve well and truly earned their first slot. Unsurprisingly, their successful Eliminator album and tracks like Gimme All Your Lovin’ heavily inspires this game. Indeed, the bonus round is named after the song, but we’ll come to that shortly. First, let us look at what we’re dealing with.
ZZ Top Roadside Riches is played over five reels and a 1,024 ways to win platform. Symbols appear stacked on each of the five reels’ four rows, so winning is not as tricky as you might imagine, even for a highly volatile game, and this Play ‘n Go is most certainly that. Players will note that stakes cost a pittance compared to the 40,000x a bet non-progressive jackpot that is up for grabs. The RTP is above average (just) at 96.2%, but we’ve seen some cases that have dipped that down a percentage or two. It should be around the 96% mark, though, so don’t take anything less.
Running Out of Road When It Comes to Features
Thus far, everything has been above board in terms of design, stakes, and prizes. Play ‘n Go is not renowned as a prolific provider of features, and so it happens to be with ZZ Top Roadside Riches.

There are wild symbols in the slot, and a few of them at that. Legs Wilds (you’ll see why they are called that when you play the game) can expand when they appear on the reels, but only if they can trigger a win. Gimme Wilds can provide multipliers worth up to 3x during the base game. In the free spins round, they can rise to 5x. Both wilds can replace all, save for scatters. It is worth noting that wilds are also the top paying icons in the slot, so bag five on adjacent reels to walk away with the top prize. Stack them on all the reel spots to pocket the ultimate win worth 40,000x a bet.
Gimme Free Spins or Legs
The ZZ Top logo is this game’s scatter icon. Just three logos will give you eight, ten or twelve free spins. You can start the round with eight to fifteen free spins with four scatters, while landing all five offers you between eight and twenty free spins. The number you can land will vary each time. Scatters won’t appear on the reels of the free spin bonus, so the number you get to kick off with is your lot.
Before you get to spin ZZ Top’s, you will need to choose one of two potential bonuses. If you choose the Legs Free Spins Bonus, the expanding Legs Wilds will also walk across the reels on each spin. However, if you opt to play with the Gimme Free Spins Bonus, your wild wins will be multiplied by up to 5x, and they are guaranteed to appear on each spin without exception.
ZZ Top Roadside Riches – Our Verdict
ZZ Top is a band that continues to defy age, producing a classic sound in a modern era. We can’t really say the same for the slot named after them. ZZ Top Roadside Riches does have a modern interface, but some of its features are a touch dated. None of that will matter if you’re a fan of rock ‘n’ roll slots, though. We’re not saying this Play ‘n Go slot doesn’t offer quality gameplay because it does – we’re simply saying that there are other rock slots out there offering you the same, if not more. Of course, none of them stars ZZ Top.
