Paddy’s Lucky Forest is a great example of the newer RTG style. The user interface has been updated and now resembles something like a cross between Quickspin and NetEnt, but the random progressive jackpots are still present – a popular feature with many players.

One unusual thing about RTG is that they do not advertise the RTP of their slots, but it is widely known that several of their games have a selectable RTP range and the pay table also mentions that 4% is reserved for the random jackpots. From what I could find out online, the default highest setting for most other RTG titles is roughly 95%, so with 4% deducted for the progressives, there is no denying that the RTP of this game is low compared to many other online slots.

The game uses the 3-4-5-4-3 reel setup, similar to NetEnt’s Wild Rockets, among other games. It’s an all-ways slot, which means there are 720 pay ways stretched across the unusually shaped play field. The maximum win is stated as being 1440x, which seems very low for this type of slot. I’m not certain if this number is correct, to be honest.

Paddy’s Lucky Forest Symbols & Payouts

The pay table was all scrambled in the demo version when I tried to play this game, so I had to rely on screenshots provided elsewhere to get an idea of the payouts available in this game. That doesn’t seem like a good sign, but RTG’s games are not currently licensed for play in my country, so I had no choice but to use a little “workaround” to play this slot, which may have been responsible for the visual corruption I experienced.

There are four lower paying symbols which are denoted by the typical playing card suits, with hearts being the highest paying in this game rather than the traditional spades. The horseshoe and rainbow symbols are somewhere in the middle, with reasonable payouts but nothing too huge.

Then there are four character symbols, including the highest paying leprechaun symbol which pays out 1,200 coins for a full line of five. This is by far the highest payout in this game – the next symbol down pays just 400 coins for a five-of-a-kind combination.

Special Features

The three progressive jackpots are paid out randomly after any spin, with higher bets having a higher chance of triggering the random jackpot. This means if you leave this game on autoplay, like most other RTG slots you can easily leave the room for a moment and come back to find your balance has shot up by hundreds or even thousands of dollars, with zero indication as to why.

There is also a “Slippery Wild” feature that activates whenever a wild symbol appears on reels 2, 3, or 4. You will be awarded automatic respins as the wilds move down the reels one space with each spin, allowing you to win several times from one spin.

The scatter symbols appear on reels 2, 3, and 4 only, and when you hit all three, you will be allowed to select from one of three pots. One of the pots contains 15 free spins, whilst the other two will award an instant prize of up to 50x your current stake instead. Occasionally, you will be given an additional pick as well as the prize inside the pot. It can be very disappointing to wait a long time for the scatters and then only pick a small prize, so I’m not very keen on this feature.

There isn’t anything particularly remarkable about Paddy’s Lucky Forest, but apart from the lower than average RTP, I think this is a great release overall. American players in particular will no doubt enjoy giving this one a try, and if you don’t have access to a lot of the other slots released this month, this one really isn’t a bad alternative.
